Station Wagon
We were driving along a back road near Shelter Cove in California, the road was narrow and hugged the steep wooded hillside about 3000 ft above the sea. Just by chance I saw the top of an old car on the hillside above us. It took me about three minutes to decide that it was worth a shot, so during the usual 9 point turn and a drive back to the site I decided which film I would use and what camera.
I scrambled though the overgrowth and eventually got to the vehicle and set about lining up the shot. Within about three minutes an army of mosquitoes and biting insects had homed in on my carbon dioxide signature and were looking for some breakfast. I'd not even taken the light readings before I had to start smacking my arms and legs.
I shot about 8 pictures in colour and black and white before running back to the car to get out of the reach of this swarm of insects. My legs being scratched to pieces in the overgrowth.
I often look at this picture to see if I can see any insects in it flying around.
A mile or so down the road we ran into a local fire brigade's fund raising cook up. Cakes, pastries and home made lemonade were all for sale to raise money for the local fire brigade which is run by volounteers.
