Sticks in the snow
I'd done a super 8 time lapse along whilst driving across the basin towards Austin on route 50. It was the first time I'd really appreciated the climate in Nevada. On the finished film the road quickly climbs out of the fairly temporate valley into Austin a small town on the foothills of the Toiyabe Range where the scenery turns white all in the space of a couple of miles.
The Road snakes it's way out of Austin and over the tops, it's almost Alpine. I pulled over and walked a short way down a track into the wilderness and found a composition.
There was no colour in the scene at all, even the sky had the heavy grey tones of an Alfred Sisley winter scene.
I stuck a telephoto on the RB to give the foreground some background to lie against and shot this pic. No filters, just plain glass, film, a grey card and a meter.
