Air con
Not sure why I became fixated with motel fixtures and fittings on my honeymoon. Might have been the challenge of doing a different kind of photography... a form of still life I guess. I do wish though that I had done more of it on previous trips. The thing about the honeymoon was that the motels had to be sort of half decent at least. I had to excercise extreme constraint when looking round for a place to stay. The criteria with which I chose rooms had to be modified somewhat. This criteria was simply 'cost'.
I found still life shots to be more demanding than the great outdoors in some respects. You have light sources casting reflections and hotspots, you are limited for space particularly if you have a medium telephoto lens on the front.
This rather used air con controller is in Monterey California in a $65 room. heaven forbid.... $65 !!!
Three days after this was taken, we were spending nights in a tiny two man tent in the mountains 300 miles further North. Didn't see that one coming.
